TechCrunch recently published a post entitled “Dublin, London and Berlin – How Europe’s hubs started to kick ass” . Guess what – Birmingham wasn’t mentioned. Now that’s probably because, as usual, we are not very good at selling our virtues. But it does beg the question, how many tech start ups do you need to have a tech scene?
We do have a scene in Birmingham that is growing fast, but it is still in its early days. We have groups like StartupMill, Tech Wednesday and GamesCentral all contributing to the emerging tech start up scene. Here is a quick look at 18 start ups based either at Birmingham Science Park Aston, Birmingham or in the West Midlands.

I just think it would be good to generate some enthusiasm for tech in the Midlands. So Frustrated dev how about it?
